BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND BRING DOWN THE HOUSE IN THEIR HOME TOWN!!
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND MAKE THEIR TRIUMPHANT RETURN HOME TO NEW JERSEY!!
FRIDAY APRIL 14, 2023 THE PRUDENTIAL CENTER NEWARK, NJ
For the first time in 7 years, New Jersey’s Native Son Bruce Springsteen “held Church” before his congregation of the faithful at Newark’s Prudential Center.
The Covid pandemic and Bruce’s two award winning runs of his Broadway Biographical production SPRINGSTEEN ON BROADWAY kept him and the enhanced E Street Band (full horn section, back up singers and added percussion), away for far too long. As Bruce walked out to the thunderous roar of the sold-out crowd he smiled warmly and shouted, “Good Evening New Jersey! I’m so glad to be back in my home state with my people!”
Only 5 minutes shy of 3 hours, Bruce and the band took us on an euphoric musical journey that spanned his five decade storied career. At seventy three years old, Bruce can still run circles around performers decades younger. This concert and his song selection took the eager crowd on a trip, traveling through the years and at times focusing on the dark hard truths of mortality. No song speaks more to this than “LAST MAN STANDING” from his latest collection LETTER TO YOU. The bittersweet nostalgic tune centers on Bruce as the last living survivor of his childhood band, The Castiles.
This was in no way, shape or form a “funeral dirge.” This show contained the light fun and true insanity of Bruce’s classic anthems/marathon shows: "BORN TO RUN", "THUNDER ROAD", "BADLANDS", "PROVE IT ALL NIGHT", "10TH AVE. FREEZEOUT", "BECAUSE THE NIGHT", the fan favorite "BACKSTREETS", and the giddy "ROSALITA". All were played to perfection and received in adulation. Of course, being “at home in the Garden State” meant being treated to a rendition of Tom Wait’s "JERSEY GIRL". Bruce and the band return to NJ to play Met Life Stadium after a summer of European dates.
Even now, "The Boss" deemed a Legend and an A-Lister whos won multiple Grammys and Oscars as well as a multitude of other prestigious awards remains humble. His multi-millionaire status makes it quite difficult to call him a “working man’s hero, “ Bruce Springsteen will forever remain at the very top of the list of the greatest songwriters and musicians of all time.
